The James Dean memorial at Blackwell's Corner, where Dean made his last stop before dying in an auto accident. This is on Route 46. Dean passed through Bakersfield, where he got a speeding ticket on Union Avenue.
Union ave. The store in the background has a copy of the ticket on its wall. Of course, Union Ave starts a few miles from the grapevine. I'm not sure how far Union Ave he'd traveled before getting the ticket.

That is a very garish, annoying sign. I always noticed that place because of the dippy sign regarding the "worlds largest parking lot".
Hey, whats your take on Billy Bob Thomas not running again? Its Kevie McCarthys time ain't it?
Thomas/MCarthy ... does it make a difference? They're both Republicans, but they could both be Democrats, and it wouldn't matter.

If it was Rubio or Florez running I would say it does matter. They are the new faces that are trying to make a difference here in Kern County, break the mold of the old west that has held this county in its redneck grip forever. There are good people trying to change things here. Its getting the masses to buy into it thats the hard part. Voting blue is a scary thought for most residents in Kern County.

It is not garish or creepy it is a memoir of a tragic loss and a constant reminder of fate and how outofcontrol we truly are in our life when it comes to death
